PESHAWAR: A local official says a bomb has exploded at a mosque in northwest Pakistan, killing at least 20 people and wounding 30.
The blast occurred in Darra Adam Khel, a rough area near Pakistan’s tribal regions where militants have been active.
Local government official Saeed Khan says the explosion hit the a mosque during Friday prayers.
The injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

At least 20 people have been killed in a blast that occurred inside a mosque in the Darra Adam Khel town of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, during Friday prayers.
Twenty-five people have been killed while 50 people have been injured, according to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar. Meanwhile, security forces have cordoned off the area.
Nature of blast
According to eye witnesses the explosion that occurred at 1:45pm, was a suicide blast.
The blast has also caused the roof of the mosque to cave in.
According to Express 24/7 correspondent Umar Farooq, the injured are being shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. However, rescue services are still trying to reach the site.
The nearest hospital is 52 km away and the injured are being taken to the hospitals in private vehicles at the time.

The blast took place in the Us Kale area of Darra Adam Khel, which has total population of around 50,000 people and is located adjacent to the FATA region.
In a similar blast that occurred in a mosque in Peshawar last month at the time of Juma prayers, five people were killed.
