Rawalpindi The Active Citizens Group (Citizens Voice) staged a peaceful protest rally from Dhoke Syedan to Kalma Chowk here on Friday against the negligence of the education department and local leaders and urged them to release funds for completion of the buildings and functioning of degree colleges for boys and girls in Dhoke Syedan.
Protesters, carrying placards and banners, chanted slogans against the education department and local leaders.
Active Citizens Group Coordinator Syed Kosar Abbas, while talking to ‘The News,’ said that the buildings of two degree colleges in Dhoke Syedan could not be completed because of the negligence on the part of the education department as well as local leadership.
He said the authorities have spent around Rs40 million on the construction of these buildings, but the work is still pending and there is a need of around Rs36 million more to make these buildings functional. “Because of the negligence of the education department, under-construction buildings have turned into ruins and have become perfect place for drug addicts, as they keep on sitting there for hours,” he added.
