Dr Kamran stresses need for acquainting younger generation with Pakistan ideology to provide patriotic leadership to country in future
LAHORE : (Wednesday, July 07, 2010): Vice-Chancellor Punjab University Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has stated that true patriotic Pakistani leadership could be produced in the country in future by acquainting the present younger generation with the Pakistan ideology and objectives of establishment of Pakistan in our educational institutions.
He was addressing 300 students from different private and public schools of Lahore in Faisal Auditorium New Campus here on Wednesday who are presently undergoing Nazriyati Summer School education organized by the Nazriya Pakistan Trust (NPT). Vice-Chairman NPT and former VC Dr Rafique Ahmad, Col Ikramullah Khan, Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado and Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar were also present.
The Vice-Chancellor said the Muslim League party, under the sagacious and far sighted leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, successfully defeated the combined opposition and intrigues of the Hindus and the English and thus brought into existence the largest Islamic country Pakistan in the world. He said even today through the implementation of sayings and thoughts of Quaid-e-Azam, the country can emerge out of the multifarious crises and dominance of the anti-Islam and Pakistan forces. He said the students who have graduated from the varsity are rendering meritorious services in various disciplines all over the globe. Presently the Punjab University has a student strength of 30500 while the number of faculty is 800 in addition to 6000 employees, he added. He said the Faisal Auditorium was constructed in the year 1966 after the name of King Faisal who was a strong opponent of the domination of western powers including USA .
Dr Rafique Ahmad, in his brief remarks, stated that establishment of Pakistan was not possible in the absence of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said during his vice-chancellorship, he had changed the names of Old Campus and New Campus of the varsity as Allama Iqbal Campus and Quaid-e-Azam Campus as a tribute to the leadership of Allama Iqbal and father of the nation. He said Punjab University is known as mother of all other universities of Pakistan . The students who have graduated from this university have rendered enviable services in the progress and prosperity of the country. Later the student delegation went round various blocks of the varsity and also visited the University Main Library where they were given a detailed briefing. The university administration also arranged refreshment for the visiting students.
