No pay raise for employees of universities
Peshawar: The public sector universities on Thursday decided not to increase the pay and allowances of the employees by 50 per cent due to paucity of funds.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the vice-chancellors of the public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani presided over the meeting. It was decided that the universities should have a three-pronged approach: the universities must undertake economy measures and cut costs; universities and the chancellor will engage actively with donors to fund the deficit and universities must cut down the huge subsidies being paid for many services to faculty and students. Earlier, the vice-chancellors informed the governor, who is also the chancellor of the universities, regarding the financial constraints being faced by them. The news
