New academic year: The meeting also decided that the process of admissions to first-year classes in the public-sector colleges in the city under the Centralised Admission Policy would begin on Sept 1 and the new academic session for first-year students would start on Sept 15 and that of Class XII students on Aug 1.

When the DG (colleges), Sindh, proposed that the principals of colleges send the examination forms of all Class XI and XII students to the boards whether they had met the mandatory requirement of attending 75 per classes, the education minister declared that examination forms of only those students be sent to the examining boards who had fulfilled the mandatory requirement of attending 75 per cent of classes.

Taking exception to the academic losses suffered by the students in the recent devastated floods and because of unnecessary holidays, he urged the officials concerned to ensure that the teaching process must continue till March 31 so that those who had suffered could be compensated to some extent.
