Lahore: The Government College University Lahore Nazir Ahmed Music Society (GCU-NAMS) is going to hold the “Annual Concert of Heritage 2011” on Friday evening at the Bokhari Auditorium.

According to a press release issued in this regard on Wednesday, Ravians and GCU faculty members would perform at the concert being organised after the gap of two years.

GCU-NAMS President Hassan Maqsood, a student of BSc (Hons) Economics, said that the concert would be a rich blend of Pop, Rock, Flock, Ghazal, Classical and Semi-Classical. He said that it would reflect on sub-continent’s rich musical heritage featuring both traditional and more contemporary pieces.

The GCU-NAMS has decided to dedicate the concert to eminent Old Ravian poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz as the world’s literati are celebrating 2011 as Faiz Ahmed Faiz year.

Hassan said that NAMS singers would also present special items to pay tribute to great philosopher-poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib and King of Pop Michael Jackson. The nation
