ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) admissions for MS/MPhil and PhD programmes for the Semester Autumn, 2013 continued around the country simultaneously. A news release issued on Friday said the prospectus and admission forms have been placed on the university’s website and the last date for submission of admission form is July 12. The admissions of PhD Programmes (On MS/M.Phil Basis) are offered in Islamic studies (general), Islamic studies (Quran and Tasfeer), chemistry (offered in Islamabad only), Iqbal studies, Pakistani languages & literature (with specialisation in Pushto/Balochi/Brahul/Sindhi/Saraiki/Punjabi) and urdu while the admissions of MPhil Programmes are being offered in Islamic studies (general), Islamic studies (Quran and Tafseer), arabic, chemistry (offered in Islamabad only), Iqbal studies and mass communication. The admissions of MS are being offered in community health and nutrition. The eligibility for PhD admissions is MPhil 1st Division /3 GPA in the relevant subject and must have passed NTS GAT (subject) test with at least 60 percent marks while MSc with 2nd Division and must have passed NTS GAT (general) test with 50 percent marks is eligibility for admissions in MS and MPhil programmes. NTS GAT (general/subject) results are valid for two years. The students who have passed the said test within this period and did not get admission can also apply. NTS will conduct a special test on June 23 for those who have not yet passed the test.
Exams rescheduled: The AIOU has rescheduled the final exams for the Semester Autumn, 2012 on June 27, 28 and July 4, 5 at Centre No 64 (Govt Degree College, Hangu). The exams controller said these exams were earlier scheduled to be held on June 4 to June 7 but were postponed due to imposition of curfew and other deteriorating law and order situations in the area, said a press release on Thursday. He said the examination centre and timing will remain unchanged. Meanwhile, he added the roll number slips will not be issued again in this regard but the slips that have already dispatched to the students will be used.
