biggest debating events in Pakistan Lahore School of Economics
The Lahore School of Economics hosted one of the biggest debating events in Pakistan in terms of number of teams this year.
Held at the Burki Campus, between February 3 and 7, the debating event pitted over 40 school and five university teams in Urdu and English declamation and parliamentary-styled debates.
Teams from all over Pakistan were engaged in enthralling debates with topics ranging from cultural subjects like religious intolerance, to economic themes like third world disparity during the five-day event.
The competition also included an entertaining social event with performances from Quadrum and the whirling Dervaish for the participants. The declamation sections ended on a high note on February 5, with PAF Risalpur and UET capturing individual prizes and Government College University bagging the team trophy.
Finals on February 7 for the parliamentary debates were another highlight of the debating competition. GCU, Fast (Lahore), University College Lahore and LGS Paragon defeated top contending teams like LUMS to reach the finals for English and Urdu parliamentary debates. Fast (Lahore) defeated GCU in a split decision for Urdu parliamentary debates, while UCL took home the trophy for English parliamentary debates.
