Karachi
Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Muhammad Hussain Syed has said flowers symbolised peace, tranquility, brotherhood and unity, and their presence, besides enhancing the beauty and attraction of the city, had a refreshing effect on the people.

He expressed these views on a visit to the annual Gul-e-Dawoodi Exhibition organised by the District Municipal Corporation, Central, on Wednesday.

Syed said nurturing Gul-e-Dawoodi was a very difficult job, as flower lovers had to spend a whole year on their cultivation and only then did the flower bloom for only a week or 10 days. He aid that by exporting flowers, especially Gul-e-Dawoodi, rose, and jasmine, more foreign exchange could be earned as those flowers were liked in many countries.

He said that besides acquiring the name of city of lights, Karachi now also called the city of gardens. Different kinds of seasonal flowers would be planted along the greet belts of all major roads.
