ISLAMABAD: A solo show of watercolor paintings showcasing the Mughal Empire’s architecture by artist and architect Muhammad Shafiq will conclude at Jharoka Art Gallery today. The exhibition of paintings was a visual presentation of the history of Mughal architecture and traditional heritage. The show entitled ‘Our Legacy’ displayed a collection of 29 works that showcased painted historical buildings and in colourful hues. Muhammad Shafiq was born in Saharanpur India in 1941. He has been participating in different exhibitions on national and international levels for 25 years. Shafiq’s pallet is rich, decorative and enhanced with dotty details. His occupation has also introduced him to the understanding of marbles, red sand stone and bricks held together with line and the delicate carving and coverings of glazed tiles and floorings. Known for his large pictures, Shafiq experiments with different techniques and media. His work portrays the charm and intricacies of beautiful buildings, though he has also made a few landscapes, such as picturesque views of Lahore.
