The babies were joined with each other at chest and stomach. Wajida gave birth to the twins on Thursday last. They were shifted to the NICH on Saturday. Confirming the death of the babies, Director NICH Dr Jamal Raza said that the case of the conjoined twins was a very complicated one. He told Geo News that their survival chances were very low.

They were admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the hospital. He said the babies shared single heart, and it was near impossible to save them.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed had directed the health officials to shift conjoined babies to Karachi after Geo News aired the news of their birth at the Shaikh Zaid Hospital in Larkana.

Dr Mahesh Kumar of the Paeds Surgery Department of the Chandka Medical College Hospital had advised the parents to shift the babies to Karachi, as their condition was precarious. The twin babies, according to him, seemed to share single liver and heart. If both had a single heart, it was extremely difficult to save their life, he added. Wajida and her husband Mazhar had told journalists that the twin babies were their first child.
