26 employees of colleges set to lose jobs Director Colleges, Sukkur, Government Mehran Degree College, Moro, Government Degree College, Naushahro Feroze,
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 21: The Director Colleges, Sukkur, Dr Abdul Hammed Channar, has issued show cause notices to 26 non-teaching employees of two degree colleges of the district.
These employees were appointed in December, and may be removed after issuance of notices.
Of them 13 had been posted at the Government Mehran Degree College, Moro, while 13 were working at the Government Degree College, Naushahro Feroze, after completion of all formalities. The employees were paid salary only for one or two months.
The notices had been issued to them on Feb 16 and a paragraph of it says: “Sufficient documentary material is available on record that your appointment is illegal … and as per sub-rule (4) of rule-5 of the Removal from Service (special powers) 2000, … there is no need to investigate the matter further”.
The employees had been asked to reply the notices within two weeks’ time.
Challenging the notices, some of the employees said: “How our appointment is illegal when we received offer letters after completion of all formalities”.
Ghulam Hyder Buriro, a junior clerk at the Moro college, said that he was appointed against the quota of a deceased employee after approval by the chief minister of Sindh.
Ghulam Mohammad Rajpar, a watchman at the Naushahro Feroze College, said that he had been working in the college as a temporary employee for the last many years. He said he filed a petition in the court and, in the meantime, received an
appointment order.
Afraid of being expelled from their jobs, they appealed to Sindh chief minister to take notice of the highhandedness of the Director of Colleges, Dr Abdul Hameed Channar.
Mr Channar could not be contacted on his mobile phone despite repeated attempts
