Body to select new International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) president

ISLAMABAD – The new president of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) would be selected by a committee comprising senior government officials. Rector Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik on Wednesday formed a search committee to shortlist three suitable candidates for the post of the president of the university.

Justice Agha Rafique Ahmad, Federal Shariat Court Chief justice Dr Javaid H Leghari, HEC Chairman Shehnaz Wazir Ali MNA, former SBP governor Dr Ishrat Hussain and Salman Bashir are members of the committee. IIUI Rector Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik is member secretary of the committee. The committee aims to ensure transparency in the process of selection of a suitable candidate for the post of the president of the university. In terms of relevant provision of the rules, the IIUI rector is authorised to propose a panel of three names to the authority concerned for consideration of the appointment of the president, But the rector preferred the case to the committee for processing in a transparent manner.
