Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has approved establishment of the first public sector Federal Medical & Dental College in Islamabad and entrusted its establishment and operationalisation to the Cabinet Division.
The college will be an integral part of the Prime Minister’s National Health Complex comprising of seven independent units. It is being established to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education, patient care promotion of scientific research, vaccine production, disease surveillance and control as well as health emergencies. Federal Medical & Dental Council has recognised the college for MBBS on March 28, 2011. The college is affiliated with Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, which is ranked as the number one university of Pakistan by the HEC.
The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) would be the main attached hospital. In addition another hospital at NIH is coming up very soon as part of Prime Minister’s Health Complex to cater for the educational requirements of the students. National Testing Service (NTS) would be responsible for the whole process of admission while ensuring total transparency and merit as per laid down quota. Application forms and online deposit slips are available on NTS website www.nts.org.pk. The candidates are required to send their applications on the prescribed application form along with an online deposit slip (in original) at NTS Headquarters, Islamabad.
The last date for the submission of application is December 17, 2011 and roll number slips will be dispatched on December 19. The admission test would be undertaken on 1st of January, 2011, and NTS will upload the result on its website http://www.nts.org.pk. The institute will cater for students from all over Pakistan and seats have been reserved for all the provinces as per the government-approved quota.
