The CDA Model School organised its 25th Annual Day in a simple but an impressive way here on Wednesday. The event also marked commending performance of its students for the academic session 2011-12.

Dr. Shaheen Khan, chairperson of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), graced the occasion as chief guest. She was warmly welcomed by students and staff led by the principal.

The ceremony was attended by the principals of Islamabad Model Colleges of I sectors, PEIRA member, office-bearers of CDA Model School Alumni and parents. The ceremony started with the recitation of Qur’aanic verses by Habeeba Azeem and Na’at by Shiza Masood.

In her welcome address, the principal of the school, Mrs. Shahwar Ajmal, presented the history and prestigious status of the school. It was followed by a colourful programme presented by students.

Later, the students who achieved distinctions during the year in various inter-house competitions, sports, and SSC Part-I Examinations were awarded trophies and certificates. Alam Khalid was adjudged the ‘All Round Best Student’ from the Junior Section. Maryam Zareen was awarded the ‘Best Athlete Trophy’ for the academic session 2010-11.

In the Senior Section, the Razia Sultana House and Noor Jehan House were the joint winners of ‘Co-Curricular Trophy’ and the ‘Academic Trophy’ was won by Noor Jehan House. The Jinnah House won the ‘Co-Curricular Trophy’ and the Iqbal House was the winner of the ‘Academic Trophy’ in the Junior Section.

The ‘Best Teacher Award’ for the academic session 2010-11 was given to Mrs. Rukhsana Hayat. The chief guest awarded a shield to the principal in recognition to her 25 years dedicated service for the school.

Dr. Shaheen Khan, while speaking on the occasion, admired the discipline of the academic institution and promised to provide it with a sports teacher. She said that more faculty members would be inducted for HSSC classes in the school. She congratulated the prize-winners and their parents. Mrs. Shahwar Ajmal presented the school insignia to the chief guest, Dr. Shaheen Khan. Vice Principal Ms. Tehseen Farah presented vote of thanks.
