KU associations call off boycott
The Employees Welfare Association (EWA) and Officers Welfare Association (OWA) of the University of Karachi (KU) on Thursday called off their protest and agreed to resume work from Thursday.
The employees of the registration office, situated at the STC Hall, KU, were beaten up by the activists of an ethnic-based association on Tuesday at around 4:30pm. After the unpleasant incident, most of the staff of the university stopped working and conducted an emergency meeting of both the associations in which they agreed to remain on strike for an indefinite period.
The members of both the associations while expressing their anger demanded for justice and serious action against the accused students. The KU administration should take serious notice of the issue and make sure that such incidents never take place again.
According to a notification issued, acting Vice-Chancellor, KU, Prof Nasir Uddin Khan met the delegation comprising of both the associations and ensured support of the university’s administration during the prolonged negotiations between the two. the news
