IBU focuses on distance education
Bahawalpur: Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice- Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mukhtar declared that by September 2011, the university would offer 1,195 admissions in 13 disciplines for M Phil, MS, M Ed, MA, BS and B Ed programs in the Institute of Distance Education.
He was addressing the participants of first distance learning workshop of M Phil in Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus.
These disciplines include Distance Education, Media Studies, History, Persian, English, Psychology, Commerce, Urdu and Iqbaliat, Pharmacy, Arabic, Physical Education, Social Work, Economics and Islamic Studies. The VC added that the IUB had launched Institute of Distance Education, keeping view the the future trends of the 21st Century.
He emphasised that the future of any educational system is now largely dependent upon using educational technology, adding that in many countries the focus of education delivery is online, virtual and distance education rather than conventional one. He appreciated the success of M Phil programme and its first workshop to provide second chance of education to those who desire to continue their education with maintaining their work.
It may be recalled that the IUB started Institute of Distance Education and initially offered M Phil education by enrolling 35 students.
