Lady Health Workers’ Programme (LHWP) employees get permanent jobs

Contractual employees of the Lady Health Workers’ Programme (LHWP) will certainly be relieved to see their long-drawn-out agitation for permanent jobs finally pay off.

 

Headed by Religious Affairs Minister Khursheed Shah, the federal cabinet’s subcommittee on reinstatement of sacked employees has approved regularisation of the services of 106,000 LHWP employees from July 1, 2012.

 

These employees belong to all four provinces, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and Gilgit-Baltistan.The subcommittee also agreed to provide Rs8,000 per employee to the cash-strapped provinces, Fata and Gilgit-Baltistan for payment of salary until 2015.

 

However, it said, the provinces, Fata and Gilgit-Baltistan will bear the said expenditure themselves from then onward.The committee also consented to the regularisation of the services of 392 Capital Development Authority (CDA) employees.Of them, 307 are daily wagers, 48 contractual employees and 37 employed under a special package of the prime minister. They all completed first year of job on March 31, 2012.
