Girls outshine boys in HSSC exams
Peshawar, July 19: The Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education announced the results of higher secondary school certificate exams here on Sunday.
In pre-medical group, Warda Sohail of Jinnah College for Women Peshawar (JCWP) topped the overall examination by securing 994 marks out of 1,100. Kainat Obaid of JCWP stood second by obtaining 986 marks while third position went to Uroosa Khan with 982 marks.
In pre-engineering group, Mazhar Ali of the Islamia College Peshawar (ICP), topped by obtaining 986 marks. Sheroz Rashid Ahmad Khan of the ICP stood second with 984 marks while Misbah Ullah obtained 981 marks securing third position.
The girls outshined boys in the humanities group as Anum Jan of the JCWP topped with 920 marks. Nazish Tariq and Zaiba Said of JCWP were declared 2nd and 3rd position holders by obtaining 916 and 907 marks, respectively.
Saddam Hussain of ICP topped the general science/computer science group securing 930 marks. Hira Naseem of the Peshawar Model Degree College (women), Dalazak Road obtained 926 marks while Gurmendar of JCWP got 916 marks and both were declared as 2nd and 3rd position holders of the group, respectively.
A total of 23,080 regular students appeared in the intermediate annual examination part-II among them 18,793 passed with pass percentage remained 80.13. Likewise, 6,448 students appeared in the pre-medical group, among them 5,665 passed the examination. In the pre-engineering group, out of 1,208 candidates 948 were declared successful.
Our Correspondent adds from Kohat: The students of Garrison Cadet College and Cadet College Kohat clinched top three positions in the 2010 annual intermediate examination conducted by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat.
The students of GCCK, Iftikhar Qayyum and Aqeeq ur Rehman grabbed first and third positions by securing 995 and 989 marks, respectively while Mohammad Fawad Khan of Cadet College Kohat stood second in the board.
The chairman of the BISE, Kohat, Professor Khan Mohammad Khalil while giving details of the result at a press conference here on Sunday said the result of the pre-medical part-I remained 77.07 per cent while pre-engineering part-I 68.30 per cent.
The results of part-II of both the faculties remained 81.69 per cent and 73.07 per cent, respectively.
In all 29,320 male and female candidates appeared in part-I and part-II of intermediate examination and the result remained 65.36 per cent.
Mr Khalil informed that regular students could collect their detail marks certificates from their respective schools and colleges whereas the private students should contact the camp offices of the BISE in their areas. Dawn
