ON the second day of three-day Punjab Chief Minister’s speech, debate, essay and art competition of Inter and Degree classes among boys at divisional level, English debate was held on Friday at Government MAO College’s auditorium.

Principal Prof. Dr. Farhan Ebadat Yar Khan inaugurated the second day’s debate. A large number of MAO students attended the function who took keen interest in the English debate.
More than a dozen students from Inter & Degree classes selected at the district level of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur & Nankana Sahib participated in the debate.
The topic at Inter Level Debate was “Can we safeguard our integrity and independence by relying on foreign aid? and the topic at Degree Level “Can working women be good mothers? The students expressed their ideas extempore on the topics selected from the variety of topics through ballot. The lively debate inspired the students to speak and express in English. Prof. Tauseef-ul-Haq and Prof. Mujib-ur-Rehman from Murray College Sialkot and Prof Umar Islam from Allama Iqbal College, Sialkot, acted as judges.
Jalees Aslam from GCU Lahore, Obaid Khan from Punjab College and Mohammad Umair from Hera Public and Higher Secondary School Nankana Sahib stood Ist, 2nd and 3rd respectively. At the Degree level, Shuja-ul-Abbas from Punjab University, Shoaib Ahmad from GCU Lahore and Noor-ul-Murtaza from Punjab University secured Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Dr. Farhan Ebadat praised the students and said that they should continue English learning by extensive reading and writing and also attain the speaking skill.
