The Roots School System (RSS), DHA Phase-II Campus, held its first Annual Parents Day and High-Achievers Ceremony at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) auditorium here on Saturday evening.

‘Unity in Diversity’ was the theme of the event. All performances by students focused on different language diversities.

Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of European Union Lars Gunnar Wigemark, Roots School System Executive Director Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq and Roots School System Founder Director Mrs Riffat Mushtaq were present on the occasion.

The programme started with the recitation of the Holy Qur’aan followed by its translation and a ‘Hamd’ presented by a group of 40 students of junior school. Headmistress Sobia Aleem lauded the efforts and ingenuity of teachers in making the event a success.

The presentations started with an absorbing performance on a mystic song by grade VII students. The beautifully designed costumes and backdrop changed the ambiance of the overall event.

The segment depicting festival celebrations of Egypt, Afghanistan, China, US, Brazil and Spain impressed the audience. Last but not the least, festivals and cultures of all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK were portrayed. Each event was directed with perfection, beginning with perception of festivals, visuals, stage settings, props, costumes and choreography and of course selection of songs, light and sound.

Children showed their feelings and passion for the universe by dance performances on songs reflecting the message of unity, love, peace and harmony.

Lars Gunnar Wigemark, in his keynote address, said: “I am absolutely captivated and enchanted by the confidence and aesthetic displays of these young children. Today’s education has no boundaries and the talent and potential of these children is amazing, certainly they can do anything.”

Later, students were given prizes in academic and co-curricular activities. The chief guest gave shields and certificates to students and all young performers who presented stunning performances. He also gave awards to teachers, coordinators and management staff members.
