Seminar on “ASEAN-Pakistan Relations” held at Punjab University Department of Political Science in collaboration with Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS)
LAHORE: (Wednesday, January 25, 2012): Punjab University Department of Political Science in collaboration with Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) organized a seminar on “ASEAN-Pakistan Relations” in the Seminar Hall of the Centre. Head Department of International Relations University of Indonesia Dr Hariyadi Wirawan was the keynote speaker while Indonesian Ambassador Ishak Latuconsina, Chairperson Political Science Department, also CSAS Director, Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, faculty members and scholars were also present on the occasion.
Dr Hariyadi Wirawan, during his presentation on Indonesia and Pakistan relationship, described the history of their cooperation during last two decades and vowed to develop cooperation between University of Indonesia and CSAS to start the courses on South East Studies Affairs.
Ishak Latuconsina said there was a need for cooperation in economic and cultural prospects between Pakistan and Indonesia. He also expressed his desire to invest the resource rich area Blochistan. However, he also expressed his reservations in security concerns.
Dr Umbreen Javaid welcomed the guests and participants of the seminar.
A question answer session was also conducted in which scholars actively participated.
