PESHAWAR: The students belonging to Khyber Agency on Tuesday protested the death of innocent people including women and children in shelling in Bara subdivision.

The students staged protest outside the Peshawar Press Club and chanted slogans against the death of women and children in shelling allegedly by the security forces during the ongoing military operation in Bara subdivision.

Haris Afridi and Nek Malik Shah, president and general secretary of the Khyber Students Union, complained that a number of innocent people, mostly women and children, had lost their lives in shelling by the security forces on their houses in Bara. They alleged that the security forces were intentionally targeting innocent people and their houses during the operation.

They said two children were killed and five others were injured when a mortar shell hit the house of Abdul Khel in Karapa village in Akakhel area two days back. The protesting students demanded the president, army chief, corps commander and governor to take note of the suffering of the people.
