The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional’s chief organiser and adviser on education to the chief minister, Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, said on Tuesday it was “a matter of grave concern” that the educational activities in Sindh University had been halted for the last 50 days.

He said the future of thousands of students was at stake as the government was not ready to remove that “individual hindrance” in the path to resolving the issue. He was expressing these views to a group of the Muslim Students Federation-Functional at his residence.

Sheikh demanded of the chief minister and the governor to take immediate notice of the problem and extricate miscreants from the system so that classes may resume. “The students are worried about their future. And so are we. Steps must be taken on an urgent basis for the resumption of classes.” He also appreciated the federation’s role in educational institutions, advising them to promote Pir Pagara’s message of peace.
