To the dismay of many, the iPhone 5 won’t do simultaneous voice and data on Verizon or Sprint, the Verge has learned.
Unlike many of the other LTE phones in Verizon’s lineup, the iPhone 5 will only be able to support Wi-Fi data while on a call. A Verizon spokesperson said, “The iPhone 5 was designed to allow customers to place a voice call on the Verizon Wireless network, while letting customers access the Internet over the WiFi.”
Sprint is getting the same version iPhone 5 as Verizon so this limitation would apply to them as well.
AT&T has confirmed that their version of the iPhone 5 will support simultaneous voice and data; however, when on a call you won’t get LTE data speeds.
